Casino doubles woman's winnings after she hit jackpot celebrating 106th birthday
Celebrating her 106th birthday, a Milwaukee woman won a £1,000 jackpot at Potawatomi Casino and later had her winnings doubled to over £2,000 as a birthday surprise
A woman celebrated her 106th birthday in style winning over £2,000 and having her jackpot doubled by the casino as a gift.
Sarah Peterson, from Milwaukee, has made an annual pilgrimage to Potawatomi Casino for years to celebrate her birthday, but this year was extra special. On the day of her birthday, Peterson hit the £1,000 jackpot on a slot machine.
Later that week, Dominic Ortiz, CEO of Potawatomi Casino, surprised Sarah by doubling her jackpot winnings to over £2,000 in honour of her milestone 106th birthday. He said: "We've welcomed Sarah every year for her birthday and are grateful that she and her family celebrate with us. We were all elated when we heard about her big win and wanted to make her 106th birthday even more special."

During the birthday festivities, Sarah wore a birthday sash and enjoyed a custom cake with her family. She was all smiles as photos were snapped to commemorate the occasion. She said: "I lived a good life, you know. I didn't drink, I didn't smoke, I didn't go to the tavern. I just lived a good life. I took good care of myself."
As for her casino windfall, Peterson intends to put the money to good use. She said: "I'm happy to win this money. I don't know what I'm going to do with it, but I'm going to make a good choice."
Elsewhere this week, a lucky grandma couldn't believe her luck after she reused her grandson's birthday to win big at the lotto after previously banking $25,000. Victoria Sadler pocketed the prize nearly a year ago while playing in the Maryland Lottery after using her grandson's birthday to pick the numbers.
She thought she'd try again in August and it paid off handsomely for the lucky grandma who has won a whopping $50,000 after she decided to play a Pick 5 ticket, according to lottery officials.
The 59-year-old headed to a Royal Farms in Baltimore and placed a $1 straight bet for the August 10 draw and her jaw was soon on the floor in disbelief. “When I realised I won, my jaw was on the floor! I was so happy, I couldn’t believe it,” Sadler said in the release. She plans on using the money to take her family to Walt Disney World and save the rest.
